Hi all,

Please see below two consultations/surveys that you or your group members may be interested in.

The first is a consultation on the Common Agricultural Policy. The Environmental Pillar would like to invite you to their meeting this Friday where they will be discussing issues that could be included in a submission. All are welcome to join this Friday at 2pm.

The second is an EU survey on the Sustainable Use of Pesticides Directive. The survey is open till this Friday 13th. See more info below, including the survey answers from Sonairte who have kindly shared their work that you can use for ideas for your own answers if you wish.

Common Agricultural Policy

There is currently a public consultation open for the CAP Strategic Plan 2023 - 2027.

"Ireland’s CAP Strategic Plan (CSP) for the period 2023-2027 will underpin the sustainable development of Ireland’s farming and food sector by supporting viable farm incomes and enhancing competitiveness, by strengthening the socio-economic fabric of rural areas, and by contributing to the achievement of environmental and climate objectives at national and EU levels."

The Environmental Pillar has organised a meeting this Friday at 2pm to discuss various aspects of the consultation as they ready their own submission. They would like to extend an invite to any individuals or groups who would like to attend this meeting, especially those from the wider rural community who would like to see effective and fair action on climate and biodiversity in the CAP.

Sustainable Use of Pesticides

An EU level survey on the Sustainable Use of Pesticides Directive (SUD) is currently open and may be of interest to those of you concerned about pesticides.

There is an ongoing survey on SUD with a deadline on 13th of August.  DG SANTE has commissioned a study to support the evaluation of SUD and the impact assessment of its possible revision.

The collection of practical experience, data and information is crucial to the relevance of the study results. As such, this survey aims to gather the perspectives from environmental NGO's, consumer organisations and civil society to feed into the evaluation of the SUD as well as the impact assessment for its potential revision.

To take part in the survey please follow this link: https://surveys.ramboll.com/LinkCollector?key=SNZJT53SJ6CJ

Sonairte has kindly shared their submission which you are welcome to use for ideas. Click here to view and download it.
